On a "Wild and Wonderful" Weekend

This weekend, Tom, Colleen and I went to West Virginia to meet Tom's family for a family get together.  Tom's sister celebrated a milestone birthday in February which was reason enough for us to meet in Beckly, WV to celebrate.

We swam at the pool.

We played in the hallway.

We ate food and had a mini celebration for Colleen since some of Tom's family won't be able to come down for Colleen's 1st birthday. (Colleen was not a fan of the cupcake).

But she was a fan of her new doll baby!

We took pictures outside of Tamarack.

As much as I love weekends at home, it was nice to be away where there was no laundry to do or kitchens to clean.  It was nice to be away and not feel guilty about doing nothing in particular.  And Colleen was definitely excited to spend time with her extended family.   Happy Birthday, Christine!

On the Train Station

When my brother came to visit last weekend, he came by train.  Little did we know that we had an awesome Amtrak station in High Point.  It was built in 1907 and restored between 2002 and 2003.  There is something that seems so appealing about traveling by train.  It just seems so much more relaxed than flying...not to mention cheaper.

On a Visit to Chapel Hill, NC

Last weekend, my brother took the train down from New Jersey to visit.  We decided to go to Chapel Hill on Saturday to walk around and see the campus of UNC.  We also met up with our good friend from college, Steve Kibler.
Colleen geared up to see the campus.  Future Tar Heel?

The guys deciding where to go.

Despite the fact that the day was cool and cloudy, the campus was beautiful.  Even saw a bit of spring.

The town had a lot of character which I liked.  Check out the windows of this building.  That's painted cardboard.

Tom and Steve.  Classic.

Kyle was keeping Colleen entertained in the stroller.

While I hate being so far from family, it does make you really appreciate the time we do get to spend together.  When Kyle graduates from grad school in May, we aren't sure where he'll end up.  But we know that we will always enjoy the times when we do get together.

On a New Trick for Uncle Kyle

While Uncle Kyle was in town, I showed everyone a new trick.

On Swinging at the Park

While Nini and Pop Pop were in town, we walked to the playground that is near our house.  I love swinging!

On a Trip to Seagrove, NC

Last weekend, Nini and Pop came to visit and spent Saturday in Seagrove, NC which is famous for it's pottery.

We started our trip here to to decide which potters to go see.

The building of a local potter.

Pretty coasters

Pretty dishes

Playing with the fallen leaves.

Long day!
